Life stuff and importance of Bible study

April 19, 2011

I haven't posted on this blog in quite some time. I have been very busy with work and work being made more difficult by company acquisitions, then health issues and just life stuff. The best thing I did during my absence was take a biblical research class. This class taught so much about the Bible and gave a wonderful foundation to understanding the Bible. We learned how to discern who the information or books of the Bible were written to, how these books apply to us now in this day and time, why the Bible is so important, the importance of the first use of a word, what orientalisms are and so much more.

I have taken this class before but it had been several years so it was a very good refresher and as always with biblical learning, I learned new things as well. That concept always amazes me that no matter how many times I have read a certain topic, sat through a class or been taught on the same subject in the Bible, I will learn even more. So now, I go look this up to give you a verse on why this occurs. I used my favorite online Bible, do the search on milk and meat and here's what I find.

"I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able [to bear it], neither yet now are ye able." - (1 Corinthians 3:2 KJV)
"For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which [be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat." - (Hebrews 5:12 KJV).

So this is one of the principles of the oracles of God. So how cool is that? I don't have to think about whether I need milk or meat. God knows what I need and he will meet my every need:

"Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency [is] of God;" - (2 Corinthians 3:5 KJV)

Taking the class reminded me that I need to make time for God every day. God's word, the Bible, gives me the tools that I need on a daily basis to keep a clear focus on what is important. And it's not only a tool but it provides the survival equipment I need as well to get through these crooked and perverse times:

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" - (Ephesians 6:17 KJV)

Well that is enough for now. Keep your light shining until we meet again!
