Do you have needs? Here's how to fix them.

Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Mat 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Speaking Boldly

I am a woman.

And yesterday, stood firm ground in regards to my faith. The Christian faith - the belief in the one true God in Heaven and of his son Jesus Christ who died on the cross. I did this because I am told to be bold and speak out for God.

I am told that God will give me that which to speak, I am just to open my mouth. In this case, I used my fingers to type that which my brain would have told my mouth to speak.

I was angered initially to read this outright "nice" attack on another believers thoughts about Heaven as a response to an afterlife and about death. That believing in Heaven was a myth and hallucination.

However, I slowed my anger by putting together a response that contained accurate verses from the Bible to confront the attack such as:
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

When in these situations, I no longer will take an idle stance. We are to be bold. We have God at our back.

If you are faced with a similar situation, do not be mean and ugly but state the truth, give them verses used in the correct context. Don't get into a battle of wills. State the truth and move on or if the conversation is a baited one such as this where the person was "hooded" and did not reveal their identity, shake off the very dust from your feet.

Oppression. Don't let it dim your focus on the light.

We face a lot of oppression while we walk about on this earth. Without a focus, or rock to stand on, we can sink into the sand or become overcome by all the turmoil, chaos of just day to day happenings... not to mention anything unusual that comes about.

I decided to use the word oppression to search my favorite online Bible for verses. Why did I do that? Many times, when the Bible has entries pertaining to a subject, God has provided us knowledge to comfort us. But it requires us wanting to know more to find it sometimes.

For instance, there are many verses found in the search with the word oppressed and as I go quickly through them I find:

Psa 9:9  The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Now that's comforting for sure. And it tells me I am not alone.

Sometimes you may feel that there will never be justice for the oppression you have faced. Well, this verse says differently, God is watching and He will take care of it for you.

Psa 103:6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

Sometimes you may feel that you will not have what you need or that you are a prisoner to the oppression. But the Bible, God's Word, says otherwise:

Psa 146:7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:

Our faith and acceptance of Christ Jesus, Romans 10: 9-10, gives us the strength to endure and to move forward and carry this light, the hope, the knowledge to others.

He, Christ Jesus, helped the oppressed:

Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Why are we oppressed? Because we have work to do. And to hinder our work is the prime focus of the Adversary and his "children".

Jhn 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

We have a purpose. To serve God and do his work.

But you know what? Even though we have oppression, it is not usually continuous but that's another study.

So, don't let the roaring of that old lion (1Pe 5:8) scare you into not doing our work. Take comfort that the Bible tells us that God is watching, He is there for us and will judge the oppressor. And best of all that in the end, we win!

Our business is not the increase but to plant and water

That was a statement I heard recently and it has been on my mind today, ours is not the increase but to plant and water. My hope is that in my day to day routine that I have some contact with others so that I can plant or water.

Perhaps, it happens when I explain a simple principle such as"you receive what you believe".

If you say that you are going to fail at something then you must believe it or you would not have said it. You have to not think negative thoughts and instead think of yourself as accomplishing the task at hand.  In the Bible we are taught that it is God's desire that we prosper. To think otherwise is not His desire for us, and if it is not his desire, then why should we think we are not equipped to succeed? 3Jo 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

So when you think negative thoughts, change your thoughts or thinking and think thoughts that show you winning in that situation.

Life stuff and importance of Bible study

April 19, 2011

I haven't posted on this blog in quite some time. I have been very busy with work and work being made more difficult by company acquisitions, then health issues and just life stuff. The best thing I did during my absence was take a biblical research class. This class taught so much about the Bible and gave a wonderful foundation to understanding the Bible. We learned how to discern who the information or books of the Bible were written to, how these books apply to us now in this day and time, why the Bible is so important, the importance of the first use of a word, what orientalisms are and so much more.

I have taken this class before but it had been several years so it was a very good refresher and as always with biblical learning, I learned new things as well. That concept always amazes me that no matter how many times I have read a certain topic, sat through a class or been taught on the same subject in the Bible, I will learn even more. So now, I go look this up to give you a verse on why this occurs. I used my favorite online Bible, do the search on milk and meat and here's what I find.

"I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able [to bear it], neither yet now are ye able." - (1 Corinthians 3:2 KJV)
"For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which [be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat." - (Hebrews 5:12 KJV).

So this is one of the principles of the oracles of God. So how cool is that? I don't have to think about whether I need milk or meat. God knows what I need and he will meet my every need:

"Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency [is] of God;" - (2 Corinthians 3:5 KJV)

Taking the class reminded me that I need to make time for God every day. God's word, the Bible, gives me the tools that I need on a daily basis to keep a clear focus on what is important. And it's not only a tool but it provides the survival equipment I need as well to get through these crooked and perverse times:

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" - (Ephesians 6:17 KJV)

Well that is enough for now. Keep your light shining until we meet again!
Bev

Perspective

Tonight, the New Year, 2011, has dawned. In the desire to have fireworks my hubby bought a pack of fireworks at the local supermarket but wished he had a bigger and better one from the state line. We had our little firework display in the front yard and some were a bit disappointing.

I usually find myself drawn to photograph such occasions and this night was no exception. It was in the making of a slide show that we discovered the beauty of the inexpensive fireworks and that beauty was from the perspective which it was viewed.  I share this beauty from our driveway with you and hope as you watch and listen that you will see that what appeared initially as drab and ugly suddenly turns into an awesome firework display that equals any grand firework show on earth. It was the perspective that makes the difference.

May God bless you all abundantly this year and when faced with obstacles may you think about the perspective of the situation. There is nothing that God cannot do if only you seek him first and believe.
