Because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

This verse was in a Bible teaching I heard recently: 1 Tim 4:9...because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Have you ever thought about that the God in Heaven is a living God? What does that mean? Some of the examples that come to my mind is the "other God's" in the old Testament. In Genesis 31:30 we can see that Jacob's father-in-law referred to "his Gods":...yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods? If you go back a few verses to Genesis 31:19 the Bible tells us that these so-called Gods were only figures and Jacob's wife Rachel had taken them: ... Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's. In Exodus 32: verses 8 and 23 , you can read about the children of Israel making a god of a molten calf and asking for more gods to made of gold. They longed for the gods of Eygpt that they had grown accustom to during their captivity, ...For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us:...

Imagine calling something that is made by a human's hand a God? Foolish! Would you think that something I made and gave to you was capable of being a God? I hope not.

If you have doubts that there is a living God, you are not the first. In the same Bible teaching that I mentioned at the beginning of this post, it was said that there is nothing that we have to go through now that the believers and people in the Bible did not also go through.

There were doubters in the Bible that there was a living God. But just like today, once one hears or sees that God is real and lives, they can and will believe. Here's a good example of someone that became a believer of our living God...a King: King Darius.

King Darius had to have a servant he trusted thrown into the Lion's Den after he, the King, was devilishly tricked into keeping a decree he had made. He was very wrought over the situation but could not save Daniel from being thrown into the Lion's Den. However, the King knew that Daniel was a firm believer and did not waiver on his beliefs.

Daniel 6: 19 - 27:
Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions. And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God. And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den. Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

So as you can see...the living God...who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe saved Daniel. And as Daniel was an example of a true believer, the King became a believer as well. Daniel did not waiver on his beliefs even in the life-threatening situation in which he was faced.

Wishing you all the blessings available to you by God! In Jesus Christ name I pray this, Amen.
