Lexicon's not Leprechaun's

Lexicon's not Leprechaun's, yep rhymes, and got your attention, huh?

Remember the Blue Letter Bible? Type in the word "Light" in the LexiConc (look under the box to the right that is labeled "Search the BLB").

It says there are:
80 results matching the query "light".
  • 55 Hebrew/Aramaic Results
  • 25 Greek Results
The word light used in Genesis 1:2 and Gen 1:3 is Strong's H216 'owr (pronunciation: ōre) and means: light (s), day, bright, clear, flood, herbs, lightning, morning, sun

Lexicon's are very useful because as you can see there are many results for the words that were translated into English from the original Hebrew and Greek words. Don't take someone elses word for it, looking it up can help you understand the original intent.

It is also helpful to read the other verses where H216 was used in order to understand the context of the word. In the Blue Letter Bible (BLB), do this by clicking on the primary results tab and then below right, click the small tab "Show Strong's". You should now see the Strong's numbers. Click the tiny 216 adjacent to the word "light" in Gen 1:3. This will take you to another page, Lexicon Results. Scrolling down you will see that for the KJV, H216 was translated light(s) 114 times and further down you will see other verses in the Bible where H216 was used.

Now your light is shining brighter because you are prepared to learn to read God's word with just a little more understanding.
